Merry Christmas

The things I got for Christmas was an iPod Touch and a special request for my best
friend. I do in fact believe in Santa but now I think he really only gives you 40%.
If you are going to write a letter to him whatever you really want, write it in bold,
I asked for 5 things and the 2 that I put in bold on the letter for him he gave me.
Christmas is not supposed to be a time where you use people to get what you want but
when you give people gifts even if it is love. Something to remember is that
Christmas is a magical time, and extra-ordinary things automatically happen. Just
remember I did not said extra-ordinary not good.

The Last Word in Trash Talking

The article I chose was an article about a football player that loves to "talk trash". The article The Last Word In Trash Talking goes in detail explaining why Bart Scott does talk so much trash in football. It actually started out from when he was a kid, he didn't know much better and he watched a lot of professional wrestling therefor making him wanting to be an excellent trash talker. Growing up into a teenager he started to trash talk to his friends steal jokes and even stand/talk trash to bullies also.
Now a days he thinks that he is the absolute best trash talker and many other people agree with him. Two of his inspirations to talk trash ad be such a rough person are Hulk the Professional Wrestler and Muhammad Ali the professional boxer. If you want to learn what trash talk is go to Trash-talk and If you want to learn how to trash talk go to How To Trash Talk

Sports and Recreation

I love to play Basketball. I think I'm good at it but not
everyone else thinks so. I don't really have a
favorite Basketball player. Most people always
believe your choice between your favorite Basketball
player has to be either LeBron James or Kobe Bryant.
This doesn't have to be true for you because you're
entitled to your own opinion. My personal favorite is
Kobe Bryant. To me at times Basketball is my life.
Whenever I am bored and feel like I just need

something to do and I can play Basketball it automatically feels like it is the only thing that

matters to me.If you have time and want to find out recent info on NBA go here NBA

Review of Senate

A senate is a deliberative assembly, often the upper house or chamber of a legislature or parliament. There have been many such bodies in history, since senate means the assembly of the eldest and wiser members of the society and ruling class. The members or legislators of a senate are called senators. The Latin word senator was adopted into English with no change in spelling. Its meaning is derived from a very ancient form of simple social organization in which decision-making powers are reserved for the eldest men. For the same reason, the word senate is correctly used when referring to any powerful authority characteristically composed by the eldest members of a community, as a deliberative body of a faculty in an institution of higher learning is often called a senate. Review of Facebook

Facebook is site that people use to post pictures and comment on them and just talk. Nowadays people are on facebook 24/7. Facebook can be a dangerous if you just put all of your information out to the public. If you use facebook properly and have good judgement, facebook will be fun and easy to use. I use facebook just to catch up with old friends. Facebook is very useful to communicate with people all around the world even in foreign countries. Facebook is an excellent social networking website. Most people consider facebook even safer than myspace and so do I. Signing for facebook is free and easy it mainly uses your email to tell you whenever new things happen. I hope after reading this post you will at least consider making a facebook even if you don't trust the internet.

Review of Altavista

AltaVista is a web search engine owned by Yahoo!. AltaVista was once one of the most popular search engines but its popularity has waned with the rise of Google.AltaVista was created by researchers at Digital Equipment Corporation's Western Research Laboratory who were trying to provide services to make finding files on the public network easier. Although there is some dispute about who was responsible for the original idea, two key participants were Louis Monier, who wrote the crawler, and Michael Burrows, who wrote the indexer. The name AltaVista was chosen in relation to the surroundings of their company at Palo Alto. AltaVista was publicly launched as an internet search engine on 15 December 1995 at altavista.digital.com.

I Got The Power Of The Icy Tower

I enjoy playing many games on the computer, even old games like Mario. The one game I seem to enjoy the most is Icy Tower.
Icy Tower is a game that my friends showed to me. It is basically a little man that you control with the arrows on the keyboard which is your directions and the spacebar to make him jump. The level you are on is based on how many bars you have jumped and it is counted by one bar jump is 10 points and so you are on level one. If you jump 50 bars you are on level 50 and you have 500 points. Sometimes the game is not even that fun because you lose but the game gets addictive after a while so you find yourself still playing it when you want to stop.

Classes... OoOoOo ... AaAaAaAh.. Maybe even " Oh, No"

My classes in Benjamin Banneker Academy fits my liking.

The class I am most worried about is US History. That's only because I have been

fooling around but I'll do better, I am going to make sure. I think I might get a 75

My best class is Spansih.

I anticipate that I will get a 100 or at least a 98.

I hope to get a 95 in English but that is the subject I have most difficulties with.

I want a 95 in Chemistry also, this I think I can get. For Math B I want 2 97's

because math is my favorite subject but I messed up a little bit.

For Computer class I would like a 100 because i feel as though I understand the

concept of blogging ( positive blogging at that) and I have mastered it. Of course

this is how I feel, but I hope my teachers feel the same way about these grades that

I do.. ( EXCEPT OF COURSE US HISTORY CLASS).

Progressive Era

The Progressive Era was probably the most important Era for advancement. It especially increased the rights of kids. The Progressives strongly opposed waste and corruption, seeking change in regard to workers' rights and protection of the ordinary citizen in general. Initially the movement was successful at local level, and then it progressed to state and gradually national. The reformers (and their opponents) were predominantly members of the middle class.

Most were well educated white Protestants who lived in the cities. Catholics, Jews and blacks had their own versions of the Progressive Movement, (some of them were more like responses to the movement than alternative versions) led by the likes of George Cardinal Mundelein and Booker T. Washington. The Progressives pushed for social justice, general equality and public safety, but there were contradictions within the movement, especially regarding race. Almost all major politicians, as declared some progressive measure. In politics the most prominent national figures were the Republican politicians Theodore Roosevelt and Robert Lafollette, Sr. and Democratic politicians William Jennings Bryan and Woodrow Wilson. Some notable progressers are W.E.B DuBois and Upton Sinclair.

Family

My family consist of my father, my mother, my brother, my sister, and I. Most of the time I enjoy to hang out with my family

but not all the time because sometimes it gets to be annoying just hanging out with people you see everyday. I wouldn't at all

say there boring because actually they keep me quite interested in whatever the topic is that they speak of at almost anytime.

Something is always , how you say "up". When I say this I mean that no matter what day something just seems to happen and you

know it's not always things I truly care for. They are the weirdest group of people. I actually wish you could meet. If you do you

would get used to it.

Micheal Jackson Clip

My thoughts of this clip were that it was very unique. Michael Jackson is quite a dancer and he
shows exactly what he wants to his crew. He has passed away but still the power of both his dance
moves and his voice is enough to keep his legacy going. Other artist in my opinion really cannot
beat Michael jackson because he truly loved what he was doing more than anyone does today,
even more than you would think. Not even Kanye West, 50 cent or whomever is ready for
Michael's level of expertise. Here is a link to the website. Michael Jackson Clip

Giants!!!

The Giants easily ran through the early part of their schedule, stomping on every opponent the NFL put in their way. They did what good teams are supposed to do.
Now they get to find out how good they really are.
And the Giants can't wait, because they know they'll take a huge step up in class this week as they get ready for their showdown with the undefeated Saints in New Orleans. Giants (5-0) vs. Saints (4-0) on Sunday is the early "Game of the Year" in the NFC. It's certainly more of a challenge than the last three weeks, when the Giants steamrolled the Raiders (1-4), Chiefs (0-5) and Bucs (0-5).

"It is going to be a real big test for us," said linebacker Antonio Pierce. "Obviously we took care of business with the first five games. (This week) it's going to be one of obviously our biggest challenges so far."
That is the understatement of the year. Their 44-7 win over the woeful Oakland Raiders on Sunday was just the latest in a three-game romp over teams with a combined 1-14 record. To the Giants' credit, they outscored those creampuffs 95-23 and out-gained them 1,309 yards to 403.
But look who's coming next: The Giants - who boast the NFL's No. 1 defense thanks, at least in part, to a string of awful offenses - don't face another team that currently has a losing record until Dec. 21 (at Washington, 2-3). The combined record of their final 11 opponents this season is 33-15, which gives those teams fewer losses than the Giants' first six opponents (6-19). And the Giants still have to face three of the NFL's other four unbeaten teams, all on the road (at 4-0 New Orleans, at 5-0 Denver, at 5-0 Minnesota).
The biggest test, though, comes first against a team that leads the NFL with 144 points despite playing only four games so far. Led by quarterback Drew Brees (1,031 yards, nine touchdowns) and tight end Jeremy Shockey (18 catches, 162 yards, two touchdowns) the Saints are ranked third in total offense and seventh in defense and have outscored their opponents in the fourth quarter 45-2.
"We know they are very talented," said quarterback Eli Manning, a New Orleans product who'll be playing his first-ever game in the Superdome. "(But) we know they are very talented. Their offense is very explosive. They score a lot of points."

Congressional Black Caucus

On Thursday, September 24, 2009 I and a group of teenagers from Banneker along with our teachers and others schools went

to the Congressional Black Caucus. The Caucus was in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The first thing we went to

was a CBC Spouse Issue Forum and Essay Contest. After that we saw a film that was abou educating black boys. Next, we went

to a National Model for African American Males, presentations named From "Lincoln to Obama", "Young, Gifted and Black",

"The Youth Promise Act: A National Movement", and a film called Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words will never

hurt me.That was about it for Thursday because after this we went out to eat and then stayed at Washington Suites.

Friday, September 25,we went to a town hall meeting for emerging leaders. After we saw a film named Legacy: Black and

White in America Movie Screening. Next, we went to a meeting about Men to boys; Lessons to uplift Our Community. Then we

saw an Emerging Leaders series- iou ( I Owe University ). So after all this was done we just looked at the various organizations

that were at the Conevention. The organizations that caught my interest was a group of People that gave out Coca Cola for

free and people that were informing the publicly about the F.D.I.C. Finally we went out to eat and then went home.

For the last day Saturday, September 26 we went to Howard University an took a tour of the Campus. We saw the White

(not in person but from a pretty good distance). We rode on the bus for a very long time and then went to eat. We finally

arrived back in Brooklyn at around 10:00 P.M.

My goals, hopes and dreams

I have a few specific goals that if I do not meet I will feel as though I have failed

myself. My goal is to become a well rounded person and fathom who I am.

I have hopes for High School that I don’t believe will happen but I wish they do. I

hope that I meet really great friends in my years of High School. I mean bona fide friends not

just people who hit you up on AIM and then in person no one knows how “tight” you

two are. I also hope to meet a friend who is a girl that I can really “hit it off with” and I think is

perfect.

I have dreams for the future which I really want to come true. When I grow up I

want to become the C.E.O. of my own engineering business and if I can’t do this I would like to

be a biochemical engineer. My most important dream for the future is knowing that no matter

what, I am happy. I deem happiness important because I feel as though I need it. I don’t

necessarily want my life to be focused on one subject, I just want to be happy. If

this dream does not come true I will feel as though I lived for nothing.

. Always remember happiness is wanting what you have - not having what you want.

Obama Recieves Nobel Peace Prize

President Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize because he has done a number of noteworthy things, which have also generated

hope and excitement all over the world. A link to the Nobel Peace Prize site is Nobel Peace Prize

Obama has done various things
that show what the actions of an American President should look like. The other presidents that won it

are Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter and Theodore Roosevelt.

"for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples"

I believe in a way that when Obama won this award we all won it, not just us as

Americans but as people who live together in the same communities and work at the

same jobs. This is an excellent example set of proving that racism is slowly going

away if people still beleive it still has a full scale effect on society.

US Soldiers killed in Afghanistan!!

This attack was taking place in the Nuristan province, which was on the border

with Pakistan.Although the Americans fought back diligently the battled still

managed to continue and lasted into the afternoon, Col. Wayne Shanks. This

knowledge was not euphonius to the Americans at all when they heard of it. The

people of Afghanistan were not insouciant this time around therefore resulting in

the death of 8 American soldiers.
This theme is Imperialism. I say this because the United States is a

stronger, larger country attempting to dominate a weaker, smaller country which is

Afghanistan. The US and Afghanistan are at war and according to this article the US

has just lost 8 soldiers.Imperialisim is also portrayed as a policy of

extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. The

US has its reasons for trying to imperialize Afghanistan.
A historical event that relates to this would be World War II when Hitler

tried to imperialized European countries. Although he managed to do most of what he

wanted he still had a price to pay. Just like the Americans lost 8 soldiers he lost

his soldiers too. America has lost more then 8 soldiers, this article only speaks of

8 soldiers being lost. In World War II Hitler lost a lot more then 8 or even 8,00

soldiers.

What do I like?

What's up people? This is Darren from Benjamin Banneker Academy For Community Development (BBACD)

Here are some of my hobbies

I read, the types of books are usually any books, but for the most part I like Non-Fictional books

My love of reading simply came from when I was a child, I began to read and I liked it.

Another one of my hobbies is writing, which intertwines with my love of writing since normally you might have to read to become an excellent writer or you might have to write to become an excellent reader.
